Noche de Rábanos, the Night of the Radishes

It’s a big night in Oaxaca. The zócalo is full of people carving radishes into elaborate scenes. Thousands of people file by to admire the very perishable art. Click on any image to enlarge it.

    1. Steve’s bee was truly a work of art. It was truly a work of art that none of us sliced any fingers off.
      Guess you don’t want to help us eat all the leftover radishes that we didn’t get around to carving up.

  5. Well, that was really fun to see. I don’t know which sculpture is my favorite but the bee wins most charming. Thanks for the closeups. And the noses! I kept hearing the voice of the German Ambassador to the UN Hans Beinholt asking “Vot is zee function of this radish festival?” Luv to you both!
